Medicine Wheel Teachings & Drumming Journey Course

is 11 classes starting on Monday, February 13, 2012, from 7pm - 9:30pm. We will meet every Monday through April 23, 2012.

While this is an 11-week course, and a new direction is taught each week, all of the previous directions will be discussed each week, and everyone is welcome to come to ANY of the classes. The Meditation before the Drumming Journey and the Drumming Journey itself are where you go within yourself to learn what it all means to you and your Truth within.

For those interested in the Journey of “Self-Discovery,” and connecting with and expressing “The Great Mystery” within you―God, and the many faces of your divine essence, it is Sun Bear  that speaks through me of the wisdom of “Earth-Spirit' Living and Life! The NATURE of all that is without us is a reflection of The Nature within us!

During my many years of wandering and wondering about in Nature after a spiritual call in the summer of 2000, the Medicine Wheel was both an outer guide and inner guide to worlds without me and within me. I became more aware of the Great Mystery/God that permeates and creates the physical reality. In other words, I saw in the natural processes how The 'Creator' organized and caused all things to operate and 'Be.' And I saw the many faces of “I AM That!” “Me, My Selves, and I!”” 

For me and many of the wisdom seekers of Native America that system of connecting with and remembering all that we are and relating to, and understanding the world around us, was called the “Medicine Wheel.”

The  “Medicine Wheel” is a tool: mirror for seeing a “reflection”  of ourselves and the nature within us: character, and 'Potential,' (and condition) in the 'face of all that we can see around us.' In other words, whether it be 'as above, so below,' 'as without, so within,' it is the “Medicine Wheel” that reflects this 'Sacred Wisdom and Truth' about all that we are!

And, as we begin to understand that the “Medicine Wheel” can be a map, we begin to understand how to use this tool: map for plotting our 'Destiny' and expressing the 'Dreams' within us!

From both the perspective of teachings and class, I would like to use the Native American Lodge/”Tipi” as a metaphor of correspondence and assigning directional meaning to our experiences in our class drumming journeys and in your personal walk with the Medicine Wheel of Awareness outside of the class. It is far easier to distinguish the within and without and above and below when our focus is we Human Beans centered within our lodge.

The classes will consist of a beginning prayer offering time and smudging; followed by a sharing of Medicine Wheel experiences; a lesson on each direction that will include the significance of that direction in the world without and within, direction in terms of meaning and interpretation; animals, growing ones, stone people and other spirits and elements in nature and symbols that are associated with that direction including cultural myths/legends/stories; with follow-up Q&A time; then the drumming journey; followed by a time of reflection, recording and interpretation of your experience on a Medicine Wheel sheet in which I will help guide by providing directional insights. (note these experiences can be the creative source for drum and shield, “Sacred Objects,” decoration!)

Each aspect has Sacred Guides: Masters, Angels, Winged-Ones, Animals, Trees-Plants-Flowers, Stones, Sacred Images (Ancient Wisdom―Religions and Philosophies), Sacred Numbers, and on, and on and... 

Dream Catcher: a collector of conscious and unconscious thoughts: positive and negative. Our ‘dreams’ not only represent our ‘Dreams,’ but the ‘blocks’ to our ‘Dreaming Ourselves into being All that we Are!’... 

The Sacred Hoop: a connection to All of Creation―The Four Directions! The Four Seasons, the Four Races, The Four Ages (of Life), the collection of all that is... 

The Web Of Life: seeing the Mysteries of our past, the path we didn’t see at the time, and the ‘future,' the desires that we have―the mustard seeds of hope? A Spider’s Web? Are we ‘spinning' our Dreams, or 

‘trapped’ as ‘victims and prey' in our nets of not being in our Truth? 

The Drumming Journey: a Sacred Circle for experiencing visions, messages and senses,  from which you can learn more of all that you are and in your Great Mystery Within!
